Racing at GT-R Festival and Nismo Meet is designed to be inclusive for cars of all levels of modification, from stock to 5-second Pro Mods.

The event caters to all racers, from serious competitors to those who are just racing for fun.

The categories are determined to ensure similar cars are racing each other.

DRAG RACING CATEGORIES

OPEN LANE CATEGORIES

These categories can line up and race at all times lanes are open, except during scheduled Headline Category sessions.

Whether you’re trying drag racing for the first time, or want to get a PB, these categories are all about having fun in your car on the drag strip. 

No pressure, just have a go. Simply line up in the staging lanes and have as many runs as you like.

There is no qualifying or eliminations. 

SKYLINE GT-R STOCK TURBO CLASS

For Skyline GT-Rs running stock turbos.

The rules are simple, you must run OEM turbochargers in your streetcar on radial tyres and with full interior.

SKYLINE GT-R TWIN LOW MOUNT CLASS

For cars running aftermarket low mount turbochargers in the factory position, slower than 10.00 seconds. 

Engine modifications in this class vary from stock internals to fully built race engines. 

Rules require two turbos to be mounted in the stock location.

SKYLINE GT-R SINGLE TURBO CLASS

For Skyline GT-RS that have converted to single turbocharger, but haven’t taken it too far.

There is a turbocharger compressor size limit of 64mm and cars must run 10.00 or slower.

This is a fun class where you can race other GT-Rs of similar power, go for a PB or just test out your GT-R at the dragstrip. 

R35 STOCK TURBO CLASS

This category is for R35 GT-Rs running stock turbochargers and looking to try out drag racing, or have some fun, without the pressure of competition.

Race your mates, your PB or just have a go.

NISSAN STREET CAR CLASS

This category is for owners of Nissans who simply want to have some fun and run their car at the event.

For road-registered Nissan vehicles that run 10.00 sec or slower.

Trophies for the quickest S-Chassis, R-Chassis, Z-Chassis, and Outright.

NISSAN and gt-r OPEN CLASS

This category is for Nissans, including GT-Rs, that aren’t street cars or drag cars, but rather race cars of other disciplines that want to have some fun on the strip.

Drift cars, autocross, time attack, even rally cars. Fish out of water is what this category is about.  


HEADLINE CATEGORIES

The following categories only run at pre-determined Headline Category Session times on the schedule, so the crowd can come and watch when the headline cars are on the track:

GT-R TRUE STREET RH9 CLASS

True Street RH9 is for Skyline GT-R (R32 - R34) street cars that genuinely see the street and run 9.99 seconds or better.

RH9 status is a big part of Skyline GT-R folk lore and where you will see many big-name GT-R street cars.

DCT STREET CLASS

For street cars running a Dual Clutch Transmission 9.99 seconds or quicker.

This category is for genuine street cars that use a DCT transmission.

This is where the Supercars take on Godzilla! 

Qualifying will split cars into:

  • DCT Street Elite

  • DCT Quick Street

  • DCT Street

DCT RACE CLASS

DCT Race is for dedicated race cars pushing the envelope of what DCT equipped cars can achieved with the factory chassis.

Qualifying will split cars into:

  • DCT Race Extreme (Top 8)

  • DCT Race Pro

  • DCT Race

NISSAN QUICK STREET CLASS

This category is for road-registered Nissan street cars that run in the 9.99 sec or better.

This is an ET based category with trophies for:

  • Quickest S-Chassis

  • Quickest R-Chassis

  • Quickest Z-Chassis

  • Quickest Outright

GT-R PRO STREET CLASS

This is the pinnacle of GT-R street based cars and where the 2000+hp 6-second monsters play.

JUNII, Punisher, KING32, Night Fury and RH6 are the existing contenders.

GT-R Extreme Class

GT-R Extreme is for GT-Rs that fit outside the rules and modified to the extreme.

Turbo 400 and RWD converted R35 can go up against tube frame all-wheel-drive drag cars.  

This is an ET based category but cars in this category can grudge match cars in other ET categories.

PRO MOD CLASS

Pro Mod Class is an invitational category for RB and JZ powered Pro Mod race cars, plus other invited guests.

This is where the 5-second monsters come to play and put on a show!

Who will reign supreme? RB, 2J or maybe something else?

RB vs 2JZ

This is an invitational and elimination category for RB and JZ power race cars of all types.

Stick shift, auto, 275, half chassis cars, street cars and anything else that will make for a great show.

Cars in this category must run 7.99 or quicker to qualify.

NISSAN RACE CLASS

This is for dedicated Nissan race cars. Anything goes. Half chassis, tubs, slicks, radials, methanol. Just get out there and have some fun and run a PB.

This class has a Top-8 elimination group plus a trophy for Quickest ET.

EXHIBITION CLASS

This is for street and race cars invited to come and take on Godzilla in some grudge matches for the crowd.

Roll Racing is open to all models of Nissan and any DCT-equipped cars of any performance level.

It is designed for street cars, from stock to 200mph monsters, and everything in between. It can be just for fun, with grudge matches between friends, or taken seriously and go for trophies and prize money. 

The brackets for eliminations are determined by MPH.

  • ELITE 8 - THIS IS FOR THE BEST OF THE BEST TO GO HEAD-TO-HEAD.

  • QUICK 16 - NEXT 16 FASTEST CARS.

  • STREET 32 - THE NEXT 32 FASTEST CARS.

  • OPEN CLASS - REMAINDER OF COMPETITORS WHO WANT TO COMPETE IN AN ELIMINATION SHOOTOUT.

The spirit of roll racing is all about street cars, and as such, is only open to full-bodied cars with the monocoque intact. 

This means no tube frame or tubbed drag cars. Drift or circuit-based race cars can compete.

RACING ENTRY TYPES

STREET ENTRY

Drive in, race, drive home.

For cars that don't require a pit set-up or support vehicle in the pit area.

You can still trailer your car to the event, just park your trailer and support vehicle in the car park.

RACE ENTRY

For cars that require a large pit area and support vehicle.

Includes a dedicated pit bay with room for a marquee or truck and a support vehicle pass.
